Fragrance Compass provides fragrance recommendations and decision support. We are not a professional advisory service, and our recommendations are for personal, informational purposes only. This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and your choices. Plain language is used throughout.
Information we collect
We collect information you provide and information generated as you use the product, as described below.
Account information
When you create an account we store your email address and authentication details handled by our authentication provider. We do not store your password.
Fragrance collection and wishlist data
We store the fragrances you add to your collection and wishlist, including names, brands, and any labels (such as season or occasion) you set.
Recommendation inputs and outputs
We process the inputs you provide for recommendations and collection analysis (such as goals, budget, and collection contents) and store the resulting recommendation outputs to power your experience.
Analytics data
We use a product analytics provider (PostHog) to understand how the product is used. This may include usage events and device/browser information. We do not send payment secrets or sensitive payment details to analytics.
Payment data handled by Stripe
Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your full card details. Stripe handles your payment information under its own privacy practices. We store limited subscription status information (such as plan, status, and renewal date) to provide Pro access.
How information is used
We use information to operate and improve the product, provide recommendations, enforce plan limits, process subscriptions, provide support, and maintain security.
Data sharing with service providers
We share data only with service providers who help us operate the product, including our hosting/database provider, Stripe (payments), and PostHog (analytics). We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and local storage
We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to support analytics and core functionality.
Data retention
We retain your data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. We may retain limited records as required for legal, accounting, or security purposes.
Your choices
You can review and update your collection and wishlist data at any time, and manage your subscription from your account settings.
Data deletion
You can delete your account and associated data manually from the Account Details page.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children’s privacy
Fragrance Compass is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their data.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date above.
